Wes Hagen WSET2, SWE, AWS
A veteran of Santa Barbara County wine, Wes Hagen is the winemaker, brand ambassador and raconteur for J. Wilkes Wines. Considered an industry leader in Santa Barbara wine, Wes was the vineyard manager and winemaker at the famed Clos Pepe vineyard for 21 years and served over a decade on the Board of Directors for both the Santa Barbara County Vintners Association and Sta. Rita Hills Winegrowers Alliance. He has penned 3 Santa Barbara County AVA’s, with a fourth imminent.
A born educator, Wes has educated thousands on wine, at Allan Hancock College, Cornell University, and through his education-driven appearances, dinners and social media presence. He has written for and been quoted by numerous wine publications.
Wes is smitten by the history of wine, and is an avid disc golf player and gamer.
Alex Russan is the owner-winemaker of Santa Barbara County based Metrick wines, and owner of Alexander Jules, his label of barrel selected Sherries, where he creates blends from within old and historic soleras. Under Alexander Jules, he also imports wine from small producers around Spain, scouring the Iberian peninsula for sustainably made wines from rare grapes and uncommon regions.
Alex writes for various wine publications and has a background in specialty coffee, botany and philosophy.
Born in raised in California, when wine is not on his mind, he enjoys reading about history and science, collecting tropical plants and is a hammock enthusiast.
Sarah J. Farley CS
Sarah Farley has close to two decades of experience working in sales, wine, and hospitality; she is the tasting room manager at Presqu'ile Winery. Her background ranges from restaurant, hotel and winery to retail and account management. Having represented both large and boutique companies in the wine and hospitality industry, she understands that each selling experience is unique and coaches sales teams accordingly. Sarah holds a Certified Sommelier Certification as well as a Marketing degree, and she uses this background to be a driving force behind the promotion of Santa Barbara County wine country.
Sarah has most recently worked as the Wine Director for Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Cafe, and now finds herself managing a rock star team in the tasting room at Presqu'ile Winery in Santa Maria Valley. In her spare time she is consulting for some smaller local projects and is thrilled to now also be a hospitality and sales educator for the CA Wine School.
